Trustway T.E.A.M. Services has a variety of options for individual student athlete primary insurance that covers athletic injuries. Many schools require student athletes to show proof of health insurance, however many times (especially Student Health Plans) they do not provide coverage for injuries sustained in intercollegiate athletics.
Many colleges and universities require student athletes to have health insurance in an effort to reduce the exposure of the school's secondary insurance or self-insurance program. For those students that don't present with health insurance, schools typically refer them to the student health plan which typically doesn't provide coverage for injuries sustained in athletics. Trustway T.E.A.M. has worked to develop plans that student athletes or universities can purchase that provide accident coverage for intercollegiate athletics (and illness coverage). These plans can be purchased by the university or the student athlete for varying amounts of time and coverages.
